MerloBioEngineering congratulates Dr. Trofè and Colleagues on their recently published study

“Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) Stimulation Increases Muscle Activity During Exercise in Sedentary People.”

The research team led by Prof. Milena Raffi at the University of Bologna — Department for Life Quality Studies and Department of Biomedical and Neuromotor Sciences — investigated the effects of PEMF stimulation on sedentary individuals. Specifically, they analyzed the electromyographic activity of the vastus medialis and biceps femoris before and during physical exercise.

MBE’s Contribution

Andrea Merlo, head of MerloBioEngineering, contributed to the methodology by writing the section on electromyographic signal analysis. He also developed a custom filter for removing PEMF-related artifacts and calculating the Root Mean Square (RMS) of the EMG signal.

The authors cited the EmgEasyReport software in the Methods section and thanked Dr. Merlo in the Acknowledgements.
