From April 10th to 12th, 2024, the MerloBioEngineering team took part in several presentations of the course “Advanced Course in Motion Analysis in Clinical Rehabilitation,” organized by Dr. Maurizio Petrarca and Dr. Martina Favetta from Bambin Gesù Children’s Hospital.
The course was sponsored by AIFI, the Italian Physiotherapy Association, Pegaso ONLUS, NIS Digital Technologies, and SIAMOC, the Italian Society of Movement Analysis in Clinic.
Specific sessions on gait, posture, and upper limb activities provided basic knowledge about motor control and the evolution of function from birth to old age. The theory was then paired with a plenary discussion of real clinical cases.
During the course, we also discussed specific therapeutic guidance and tools for identifying clinically relevant indicators for clinical practice, health management, and research.

Andrea Merlo
Andrea Merlo, the founder of MerloBioEngineering.
He presented the lectures “Analysis and synthesis of gait data” and “The upper limb, between research and clinics”.

Isabella Campanini
Isabella Campanini, head of the Laboratorio Analisi Movimento of the Azienda USL-IRCCS of Reggio Emilia.
She presented the lectures titled “Factors influencing gait”, “Gait characteristics in adult individuals with brain injury”, and “The upper limb, between research and clinics”.
This was an excellent opportunity to discuss clinical motion analysis with other national experts, catch up on the latest developments, and pick up many insights to improve daily clinical practice and start new lines of research at our centers.
