A team effort
The team of the LAM (Motion Analysis Laboratory) of the Azienda USL-IRCCS of Reggio Emilia published a new paper in collaboration with the Neurology Unit, the Otolaringology Unit, the Neuroradiology Unit, and the Department of Mental Health and Drug Abuse.
The case report
The paper describes the case report of a young patient who developed obsessive-compulsive disorder and was later diagnosed with ataxia with oculomotor apraxia type 2.
We assessed the patient through:
- neurological exams
- video-ocular assessment
- blood tests
- brain MRI
- psychological evaluation
- electromyography
- instrumental gait analysis
- posturography
- genetic sequencing
The LAM supported the IGA with sEMG analysis and instrumental posturography, revealing a stretching response in triceps surae and hamstrings and impairment during balance tasks with eyes closed.
