The invitation

On May 16th and 17th, 2025, engineer Andrea Merlo – head of MerloBioEngineering and scientific research lead at Sol et Salus – and Dr. Jonathan Bemporad, head of the Neurorehabilitation unit of Sol et Salus, were invited to the 3rd Expert Opinion Meeting titled “Clinical Patterns of Spasticity in Multiple Sclerosis and Correlation with Kinematic Parameters, Kinetics, and Electromyography of Gait Useful for Pre- and Post-Treatment Assessment”, led in Napoli (Italy).

Multidisciplinarity is the key

They joined a multidisciplinary panel of experts—including neurologists, physiatrists, physical therapists, and bioengineers—tasked with identifying the most appropriate approaches for the clinical and instrumental assessment of spasticity in patients with multiple sclerosis.

Scientific research in support of clinical practice is a cornerstone of MerloBioEngineering’s mission. We have always promoted the integration of technological innovation, research, and patient-centered care within the treatment pathway.

Future developments

This meeting launched a working group that will conduct a systematic review on the assessment of spasticity in multiple sclerosis. And this is only the beginning: further research is already on the horizon.
